Kevin started his Master's program in Applied Economics in January. some long days ahead for the whole family, but let's get it done pronto
our little P turned 1 in February--in Peru!
...and took his first steps in March--about time...
Paxton and I had lots of quality time in April and May, and I finally got used to being a "stay-at-home mom"--as I was no longer breastfeeding, my energy came back. hallelujah!
my brother Roman started school at Virginia Tech in May. this meant that mamita Angela (ita) came into town, and Mamima too wooo wooo! we made a weekend trip to hookie land
lots of yard work in June. I had a crash course on landscaping, and our front lawn was much improved. we also replaced the windows and decided that we are done with house projects for a while
I started a "new" old job in July working at the Inter-American Development Bank. at first, it felt strange to go around without my extra appendage, but i came to really enjoy it
Paxton was lucky to stay home with ita at first, but in August became a "student" at Metzger Academy. we love their Spanish immersion program. they also teach kids music and math (??)
by the end of September, we were getting used to our new routine of working parents. the house, left alone all day, had never looked to spotless. fun activities included the ward campout and Yo Gabba Gabba live
in October, papa Jaime came to visit. also, uncle Eric married aunt Madolyn and we flew to Arizona to celebrate with them. Kevin had his 10 year high school reunion the same weekend! for halloween, we were Peter Pan, Wendy, and Captain Hook
grandma and grandpa Smith came to celebrate Thanksgiving with us in November. uncle chicken too... which reminds me of a incident involving him and Pax at the dinner table
the months went fast, and at the same time i think we barely made it to December. we sure were glad to take off to sunnier lands to spend the holidays in Lima.
