in a new york minute

This weekend we headed to NYC with a carry-on, a backpack, a stroller, and a toddler. We rode the metro, then the bus. We made it to our bus with 2 minutes to spare. The drive took 7 hours instead of the regular 4 (thank you tornado watch for the NOVA/DC/MD area). We crashed on an aerobed. But it was one of the funnest weekends we've had, our hosts were awesome and Paxton was a model traveler.

Some of the highlights of the trip:
  • walking through new york city subway tunnels and realizing how monochrome DC can be
  • Kevin almost falling off the air mattress (all 3 of us slept there the first night)
  • jamba juice
  • nap in Central Park
  • meeting 3 new animals: penguins (how had I never seen a penguin before?), puffins, and a polar bear
  • street food: Ray's pizza, falafel, and liege waffle for dessert
  • Paxton learning the sequences we were to follow: elevator, walk, stairs, train.... taxi, bus, metro, bus, metro, walk, casita
  • jamba juice
  • rice to riches (... emphasis on the RICH)
  • spending 48 non-stop non-interrupted non-distracted hours with my two favorite people in the world
  • two fun chihuahuas to play with at our lodging location
  • did I mention jamba juice?
