packout-mageddon

You prepare and agonize for weeks as it approaches, but still somehow the move sneaks up on you.  For any of you readers who have not had to in recent memory, let our experience serve to remind you: moving is basically the worst thing in life.

Questions that come up:

1.  How/when did we get so much stuff?
2.  Why is it so hard to part with stuff (especially books)?
3.  Is it possible that, after two years overseas, we really won't want most of what we send to storage?
4.  How did we not consider that the moving crew would split up and attack the rooms least ready to be packed??

Some pictures from just before and during the move.

Stuff category II and IIIb: going to Korea by unaccompanied air freight (foreground boxes), slow boat (against wall).

Stuff category I, IIIc, and IV: going to Korea in a suitcase (iMac), going to Korea by slow boat (desk, shelf), and stuff going to storage (treadmill... why is another question).

These are just the things that haven't already been Tetris'd into a crate on the truck.

The last of it, about to be sealed up for the ocean voyage.

Many thanks to supporting family and friends, and to the excellent moving crew who got more than they bargained for these two days!

We will miss our dear neighborhood and (almost as much) our old house.
